Technical Project Engineer

Location: Flexible (Chester or Home Based)

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Technical Project Engineer will be responsible for providing operational
and technical support to our field resources, alongside completing the technical gating of all client sites in
Comvergent’s remit. The successful candidate will have experience of working on MBNL programs and
demonstrate sound technical skills.

Technical Project Engineer Responsibilities:
* Conducting Initial gating and planning of PIVs across the project.
* Supporting OTD and Field Supervisors to ensure any issues are identified and rectified promptly.
* Reviewing completed PIVs upon submission for any major rigging/design issues and flagging into the
build team.
* Assist with the development, documentation and management of processes and workflow relating to
the project deliverables and service level agreement.
* Support project team with appropriate levels of knowledge transfer to help other team members
identify and review HOP related issues.
* Produce high quality, detailed weekly & daily reports on progress of activities to the business.
* Reviewing and ordering necessary consumables from supplier for delivery.
* Carry out ad-hoc tasks and activities in accordance with business requirements as required.
* Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and guidelines.

Technical gating of all sites within the allocated pot is a key element of this role. The successful Technical Project
Engineer must be competent in understanding the solution required as gleaned from Design Documentation
and working with the relevant team members to ensure the below aspects of build / DICI are covered and gated
with appropriate staff:
* Rigging requirements (active components)
* Electrical requirements (liaise with Electrical Project Engineer)
* Civil requirements (liaise with Build Manager)
* Create Production Bill of Materials from design documents / site survey
* Appropriately skilled resources are assigned where appropriate from Comvergent’s talent pool.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
* Proven experience in providing Technical Support on MBNL related project delivery.
* Ability to learn and adapt into a new project environment.
* Ability to identify technical process inefficiencies and drive through process improvements for
accelerated delivery with minimal impact to cost of delivery
* Proven experience of working in a technical support environment, as a key member of a successful
project delivery team.
* Sound understanding of technical components that constitute a good HOP, whether it be Build or Light
HOP
* At least five years’ continuous experience within a UK deployment project environment
* At least two years’ experience in a technical support role on MBNL network

Day to day the Fibre Deployment Director will be responsible for

  • Overall responsibility for developing and growing our UK Fibre busines
  • Working closely with Commercial and Programmes Director to establish and maintain Commercial controls and measures to achieve EBITDA targets across the business unit
  • Demonstrate familiarity with all aspects of legacy fibre infrastructure build requirements to stakeholders
  • Build and plan delivery to ensure that key business departments are aligned, and that key metrics and decisions are acted upon quickly and decisively
  • Build delivery plans internally and liaise with Design and Field teams
  • Ensuring robust and seamless end to end processes are defined and established to facilitate smooth integration of new workstreams into the Fibre Deployment vertical
  • Ensure that all deliveries are completed within the budgets set and that KPIs are adhered to or exceeded
  • Manage subcontractor compliance

The Fibre Deployment Director who would stand out to us would have;

  • Relevant FTTP / FTTH / FTTx industry experience in a senior management / figurehead role; Head of Fibre, Head of Fixed Networks, Programme Manager etc with either BT Openreach or Tier 1 suppliers who’ve worked on BT, City Fibre or similar networks.
  • Current FTTP network build rate card understanding to assist with programme cost control and provide assistance and guidance with RFQ responses
  • Knowledge and experience that traverse across all elements of FTTH GPON deployment covering Planning, Design and Build
  • Sound technical FTTP network knowledge base to assist with front end technical pre-sales support
  • Have access to industry wide contacts and provide assistance during recruitment of key individuals to help achieve our homes passed aggressive targets

Delivery Manager

As a Delivery Manager your day to day would include;

  • Client interface for operational activities
  • Providing support with Project Manager on commercial actions
  • Receiving initial build instructions from customer and acting as escalation point for 5G build managers
  • Creating a schedule of works and forecast based on sites available
  • Working with quantity surveyor on subcontractor tendering and minimising site cost and variations.

We’re interested in speaking with candidate who has;

  • Previous experience with a SWC or Vendor / Managed service in a similar role (Delivery Manager / Delivery Lead / Build Manager / Rollout Manager etc).
  • Significant experience in wireless telecoms industry (2G, 3G. 4G. 5G).
  • Solid commercial understanding on how to deliver telecom sites into a customer within cost

Our Construction Build Manager will be responsible for;

  • Delivery of telecom site construction to desired spec, time and quality
  • Managing and assessment of third party contractors suitability for defined Construction activities
  • Keeping the Project Team fully informed of progress on site, reporting and escalation of any issues.
  • Working with Quantity Surveyor on Subcontractor tendering and minimising site costs and variations
  • Submission and management of road opening notices and liaising with highways department.
  • Planning and supervising lifting operations.
  • Coordinating all Build activities to minimise any necessary outages and disruption
  • Ensure site is properly planned in Programme of Works and CPHSP is reflective of the required activities
