Our client, a rapidly expanding provider of high-speed fibre networks are seeking a talented and skilled Fibre Network Planner to join their UK team.

The Fibre Network Planer will be primarily responsible for conducting surveys and planning activities, working within the Planning Department, and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the production of high-quality network designs.

As a part of this role will be engaging with Build partners on site, there will be an expectation for the successful Fibre Network Planner to stay away for a few nights (2-3) a week. This is to ensure continued collaboration alongside maintaining a high degree of accuracy. The Fibre Network Planner will be an advocate for change and development and will have ample opportunity to drive this in the area they work.

We would welcome applications with the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working in Fibre Network Planning in underground and overhead network scenarios.
  • Solid knowledge of PIA and CDM.
  • Experience working as part of a Fibre Project Delivery Team alongside coordinating with external build partners.
  • Experience working with GIS tools such as QGIS (or others).
  • A natural problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
  • Great communication skills, able to communicate across several levels within a business.
  • Solid IT skills with a capability to pick up new software packages as and when required.

You’ll be someone who is able to champion network quality, and compliance to ensure that our partners are carrying out operations to specification and adhering to the programme.

On a day to day basis, you will be responsible to check completed plans, identify any risks on the programme, oversee fibre network build activities, complete audits, liaise with the public, work with internal stakeholders, check as-builts documents are completed.

This is a role with great potential for growth as we expect you to take charge of organising people, information, and resources to enable the team to work effectively, suggesting and leading change where required.

Responsibilities

  • Organising and managing pre-build walks with our partners.
  • Supporting planning team where additional surveys required before build.

Health & Safety Auditor responsibilities include;

  • Assist in the completion of internal and external audits.
  • Assist in non-compliance through inspection and audit, project work, and accident and near-miss investigation
  • Upkeep of electronic records to track deployed assets and/or material.
  • Assist in the calibration and/or certification of assets and safety equipment.
  • Undertake tasks and projects as agreed that are within jobholder’s experience, skills and capabilities.
  • Complete H&S audits of field-based telecommunications engineers, completing and submitting accurate audit results.
  • Complete PPE & LOLER equipment formal inspections and provide accurate inspection information.

For our Health & Safety Auditor we would welcome candidates with the following skills and experience;

  • A background of an Health & Safety Auditor (or similar; PPE Inspector etc.) type role working in the field within an Engineering industry (preferably Telecommunications; wireless or fixed line)
  • Knowledge of network technologies across fixed & mobile infrastructure and the risks associated
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and problem solve in stressful situations.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Takes a logical and orderly approach to analysing problems, organizing work and planning actions.
  • Being able to inspect and sign off Ladders, Fall protection equipment, PAT Testing would all be advantageous

Job Role:

  • The candidate provides next generation Network Operations Managed Services to the customer. The scope includes the provision of Managed Services for Service Integration, Central Operations (NOC), Field Services, Optimisation, Spare Parts, Access, and Estate Management across the customer estate (approximately 20,000 sites).
  • The Hardy OSS Surveyor (HOSSS) role will ensure radio site access is available at all times where rights allow to the customer and shareholder appointed contractors, particularly where this impacts public service.
  • Access to the fullest extent of the legal rights will be achieved by constant review and maintenance of site access ensuring full legal rights of access are maintained. Where rights of access are challenged by Site Providers and third parties to access then immediate action is taken to remedy. This will take the form of direct intervention at source with support where necessary from the clients appointed Legal Team.
  • HOSSS first stop reference for network property access related matters and will manage and where appropriate will be part of the first line of communication with resistant Site Providers and third parties.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce, through training workshops, the clients Property access processes.
  • Engaging cross-functionally as well as within the Property Department to inspire and empower process change.
  • Provide support to the Suppliers and Contractors in the context of access resistance/refusal and to act as an escalation point when issues are encountered beyond the Hardy OSS contractual requirements.
  • Provide support to Shareholders, Suppliers and Contractors in the implementation of ECC reform especially in the context of renewals and to act as an escalation point when issues are encountered.
  • Introduce innovation into all processes that can impact results, enhance delivery and assist the organisation to meet its business objectives and goals.
  • Implement any “quick win” process improvements to enhance delivery and to react to what will be a rapidly evolving workspace.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders in Acquisition, Legal Deployment and Transmission functions.
  • Have a vision of the big picture and be able to foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to suppliers in site specific issues.

Key to the role is the ability to identify effective design solutions that best fit the site design requirements whilst having experience and understanding of the Cornerstone design ways of working

Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the creation and verification of Design Proposals for mobile network sites based on customer requirements across Civil, structural and active elements.
  • Review of plans, design drawings and other relevant documents for accuracy and adherence to design & build requirements.
  • Managing 3rd party designers and adherence to project design guidelines.
  • Managing progress and quality of 3rd party designers, whilst working to a continual improvement methodology.
  • Ensuring that 3rd party designers are compliant with local Health and Safety requirements and any other related statutory guidelines required to facilitate a workable design solution.
