Job Role:

The Site Solutions Engineer has an Engineering role in acquisition and engineering topics, coordinating and supporting the rollout organisation in regard to technical acquisition and engineering issues and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer a team of engineers, across disciplines such as AC/DC power, RBS design, site civils and rigging work, TDM/IP transmission solutions.
  • Act as the point of escalation within the team on any technical queries or problems.
  • Drive improvements within the operations of the Site Solutions team, work to implement processes and methods that may have effect on the service supply quality vs. contracted scope of work for the service supply.
  • Adapt and evolve the processes, standards, methods and tools within the service family Site Acquisition, Civil Works and Site Engineering.
  • Attend meetings within the client and with the Customer about site solutions activities and act swiftly over the action points and the concerns raised by the customer.
  • Assist with the Technical Resource Planning (TRP) for the Site Solutions Team
  • Ensure key positions are delegated to personnel with adequate training and skills to perform the task to ensure that these are according to the service delivery requirements.
  • Bring to the attention of the site solutions manager any issues or escalations that require further support
  • Recognize the training requirement for the staff and do mentoring & coaching where required.
  • Define requirements in the CW Specification in terms of:
    • Access – ensure no restrictions to facility access that would hinder permitting, facility design and construction, and/or ongoing maintenance operations.
    • Building Codes – Specify design and construction codes to be used and monitor to assure that relevant codes are used and complied with.
    • Environmental – provide equipment and personnel Environmental Specifications to facility design and construction engineers to ensure proper environment is built into the project design and construction.
    • Facilities/Utilities – Specify all necessary facilities/utilities required by the equipment and personnel planned to be deployed at the facility.
    • Image – review any historical, architectural, camouflage, and/or antenna height requirements of the area.
    • Physical Space – provide design and construction engineers with physical space requirements for the current and planned future product/network equipment to be installed in the facility.
    • Quality Performance Measures – define how Service Providers performance will be measured and reported. Consequences of excellent and/or poor performance must be understood by the Service Providers

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience with Telecommunications Civil Works Installation and related activities
  • Site installation experience with other products supplied by Ericsson e.g. Power systems, Antenna systems, Microwave link, transport equipment and other 3rd party site products.
  • Installation knowledge and familiarity with regulatory and Customer Site Design Guidelines used for Installation of different Ericsson & 3rd Party Products in a network environment.
  • Proficient in using the Site Handler database, entering data, setting-up and generating reports.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing subcontractors (ASP/SP)
  • Have excellent planning and scheduling skills.
  • Knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability implement/drive corrective actions and efficiencies.
  • Have good customer and sub-contractor relation skills.
  • Experience of relevant tools like Site Handler
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office applications

Electrical Design & Build Enigneer

Job Title – Electrical Design & Build Engineer

Job Location – Dublin, Ireland

Job Role:

  • The Electrical Design & Build Engineer will support the Site Solution Design & Installation team within Customer Projects. The Electrical Design & Build Engineer must have good knowledge of power supply systems, climate control system and electrical regulations and installation experience with other products supplied e.g. microwave link systems, SDH equipment and other OEM site equipment e.g. antenna systems.
  • The Electrical Design & Build Engineer is required to have installation knowledge and be familiar with the specifications of the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) and Customer Site Design Guidelines used for installation of vendor products in a network environment.
  • The Electrical Design & Build Engineer must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision

Responsibilities:

  • Design in relation to highlighted power and climate issues at design stage – ensure that proper power solution and correct design is implemented in design documents.
  • Build in relation to highlighted power related issues at build stage – ensure that site is built to comply with ESB, ETCI regulations, and customer guidelines.
  • Review of Site Survey Reports, Proposed Nominal Design and Detail Design Drawings from power perspective and refer issues back to the client or its SP(s). Power dimensioning.
  • Documentation: Electrical Infrastructure Design and Build Principles, Installation guides, Method of Procedures, Design Decision Trees, Hardware and Design Specifications, Electrical Health and Safety Guidelines and Alerts
  • Interface with the client and Customer in relation to site solutions and power design issues proposed and approve solutions that do not comply with Customer Site Design Guidelines.
  • Interface between Site Acceptance Team for implemented site solutions.
  • Project Management: Tracking design and build milestones in alignment with overall build programme, database control, reporting internally and externally

Experience

  • Qualified Electrical Engineer or Electrician with relevant design and installation experience;
  • Proficient in written and spoken English as a business language.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all interfaces.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and project planning software packages.
  • Proficient in using the Site Handler database, entering data, setting-up and generating reports

Site Engineer

Job Role:

The Site Engineer, depending on assigned Portfolio Competence, carries out “Installation Investigation and Engineering”. They will also be responsible for assisting with NPI, ASP training, and development of MOP’s

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Site Surveys are carried out in accordance to Design requirements.
  • Ensure material dimensioning is in accordance to the contract.
  • Production of Detailed Design documentation.
  • Ensure that the site engineering processes and methods are being adhered to.
  • Ensure all site-engineering approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
    • Adherence to laws and regulations and act in such a way that the interests of the client are damaged.
    • Ensure all team members follow the clients/local regulations of standard safety and health.
  • Ensure that the engineering work is performed in accordance to the clients standard taking into consideration customer specifications and the agreed time schedule
  • Develop and review methods, processes and support systems for continuous improvements in project engineering and design output
  • Conduct site surveys and prepare bill of quantities as basis for equipment/material ordering by Logistics
  • Prepare installation engineering documentation, to be used by the Implementation Managers
  • Prepare and update as-built documentation for submission to the customer
  • Prepare progress reports as required for each project

Experience

  • Previous experience in on-site building, installation of RBS and related equipment preferable
  • Familiarity with regulatory and customer specific design requirements preferable.

    • SafePass
    • Garda Accreditation
    • Eircom Accreditation
    • Towercom Accreditation
    • ESB Accreditation
    • Vodafone Passport
    • CIE Accreditation
  • Experience of relevant tools like Site Handler preferable

Telecoms Engineer

Telecoms Engineer

Location: South East of England (covering areas such as; Cambridge, Norwich, Ipswich, Kent, Brighton, Southampton, London, Reading)

Comvergent are seeking Telecommunication Engineers for a large scale Telecommunications FTTC project in the UK (Copper side).

Working in 2 man teams the Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for:

  • A55 Surveying of existing BT PCP / DSLAM ducting and cabinets in readiness for PCP upgrade requirements, and completing required documentation.
  • Cable pulling between PCP cabinets and DSLAM access points.
  • Terminating pairs of cables within the DSLAM and PCP cabinets.
  • Side pod install
  • DSLAM card installation and SWAP upgrade activities.

Background requirements:

  • Ideally BT accredited / safety craft module certified; A9, A15, N3, F5
  • Previous experience working on PCP / DSLAM roadside cabinets (e-side, d-side)
  • Understands how to use a Kroning tool within the DSLAM and PCP cabinets
  • NRSWA certified
