Due to an exciting period of growth, Comvergent are looking for an experienced Rigging Manager who is capable of managing high numbers of Rigging teams across multiple projects.

The Rigging Manager responsibilities include;

  • Line management of up to 70 staff, both permanent and direct contract
    • Timesheets
    • Training
    • Compliance with company processes
  • Supplier management of rigging service suppliers
  • Compliance with H&S and MATS regulations and best practice
  • Management of PPE and test equipment requirements
  • Management of rigging processes covering site gating through to HOP
  • Escalation for working at height issues within the business
  • Support new business enquiries

Rigging Manager knowledge and skills;

  • Track record of multiple team management with the delivery environment
  • Demonstrate understanding of multiple operators site build requirements, recent experience of MBNL/EE/3UK/Huawei site installations.
  • Understanding of multiple operators testing requirements and test equipment use
  • Understanding of HOP requirements.
  • Quality focused, finding ways to enhance standards
  • Strong problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Strong communicator, being able to explain wider implications of decisions

Qualifications and Experience;

  • 5+ years’ experience in management of telecommunications working at height project delivery.
  • Driving license

Field Engineer

Field Engineer (Huawei skilled) needed to support activies such as Installation, Commissioning or Elecrtical works across a large deployment project.

Field Engineer responsibilities vary from;

  • WDT Commissioning and Testing
  • Decommission Samsung kit and replace with Huawei cabinets
  • 2100, 2600, 3500, MIMO Builds on Huawei
  • Fibre testing
  • RRU and feeder installation
  • Antenna testing / troubleshooting
  • Antenna / Feeder re-terminations, RRU testing, RET configurations
  • AC and/or DC testing

Experience needed from Field Engineer;

  • Competent in cabinet and cabling installation activities in Ground, Streetwork, Rooftop sites
  • Huawei BTS3900A and L cabinet and cabling installation experience
  • Huawei APM5930 and RFC cabinet and cabling installation experience
  • Hands on experience with Huawei BTS kit; 800, 1800, 2100, 2600, 3500
  • Strong understanding of Huawei 3900 in and outdoor
  • Previous experience as a Field Engineer / I&C Engineer / C&I Engineer / Rigger / Team Lead / Electrician working on deployment projects in the UK
  • Competent with intra and inter cabinet cabling installation and dressing between BTS, RRU, SBC and UCU across Indoor, Outdoor and Streetwork sites
  • Previous new build rigging experience would be desirable but not essential
  • Familiar with using Site Master for Antenna System Testing, and performing relevant troubleshooting
  • Competent in re-terminating and testing of RF tails at RRU, UCU and Same Band Combiner

Electrical Project Engineer

Based out of our head office in Chester, the Electrical Project Engineer provides appropriate operational and electrical deployment support to the field resources, and electrical gating of upgrade / new build sites in Comvergent’s remit. The successful candidate will have experience of working on mobile operator BTS vendor swap programs and can demonstrate sound electrical skills associated with all aspects of vendor swap deployment activities.

Electrical Project Engineer responsibilities;

  • Leading a team of electrical site engineers who can support all electrical requirements required to support a countrywide deployment activities
  • Provide local and remote troubleshooting to resolve on-site issues in a timely manner so as not to impact delivery deadlines.
  • Support project team with appropriate levels of knowledge surrounding AC/DC power transfer to help other team members identify and review electrical HOP related issues
  • Provide certifications where required

Background and Skills from Electrical Project Engineer;

  • Experience of Installation/Upgrades of new electrical systems supporting BTS site solutions
  • Compliant with 18th edition regulations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills (remote/onsite)
  • Familiar with site design drawings and understanding of electrical details.
  • Preferably worked on Huawei vendor equipment but not essential
  • NICEIC certified or worked under NICEIC standards in previous roles.
  • Performed electrical circuit testing and inspections with authority to provide certifications
  • Strong customer facing & communication skills

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities of Electraical Maintenance Engineer include;

  • Attend all building service repairs and fixing including; electrical installation, civil work etc
  • In charge for all building defects and repairs.
  • Liaise with contractors, implement civil work and follow up
  • Diagnose and fix breakdown faults, to maintain an effective maintenance service.
  • Supervise and help contractors working on site.
  • Ensure smooth site operation welfare, and health and safety measures.
  • Maintain PAT and cable management

Background / Experience from Electrical Maintenance Engineer;

  • 5+ years experience as Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-skilled Technician
  • City & Guilds Electro-Mechanical qualification (C&G 2356) or similar (e.g. C&G 2392, 2391, 2377, 2382, 4467, 2339, 7682, 7724). ONC or equivalent.
  • Fault finding and maintenance experience of facilities equipment, both electrical and mechanical
  • Previous experience in communicating with third parties / service suppliers for work onsite.

Rigging Project Engineer

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Rigging Engineer would be responsible for leading a teams installing and maintaining aerial equipment and associated equipment. Including building of radio towers, installation of rooftop steel works and work inside buildings.

Rigging Project Engineer responsibilities;

  • Supervising daily weekly workload
  • Supervise internal and external staff and contractors
  • Supervising operatives
  • Installation of roof top steel works
  • Building radio towers (example, 2600 and 3500 Builds)
  • Works inside buildings.
  • Adhere to site file information, risk assessment, method statements and all relevant CDM documentation.
  • To co-operate on all environment, Health and Safety issues

Knowledge and skills from Rigging Project Engineer – PCN;

  • Able to read and understand Detailed Design drawings
  • Experience of completing Surveys across multiple operators designs
  • Demonstrate understanding of multiple operators site build requirements, particular recent experience of EE/Huawei site installations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of multiple operators testing requirements and test equipment use
  • Demonstrate an understanding of HOP requirements.

  • 10+ years experience in PCN rigging (including Team Lead, Rigging Engineer, Project Engineer, Foreman)

PCN Rigging Team Lead

Job Title – Rigging Team Lead (Telecoms)

Job Location – North Central/South Central (2 positions Available)

Job Role

  • Carryout installations on multiple networks, on multi technology networks/feeder systems, achieving agreed performance target
  • Carryout feeder system commissioning across multi-customer, multi technology networks achieving agreed performance targets on installation works.
  • Participate on Aluminium feeder replacement Project within the specified working areas across the UK.
  • Participate on Cross Feeder Rectification Project within the specified working areas across the UK
  • Working in two man party teams, completing feeder upgrades / cross feeder rectification on the multiple network sites and ability to complete end to end testing with Site Master and PIM Tester on completion of works.
  • Keep diligent records and accurately update both internal FSO and Customer systems where necessary
  • Vehicle daily checks on vehicle. One vehicle per two-man team
  • Test equipment, Site Master / PIM Tester provided by Ericsson. ARP to provide on lap top
  • Understand and Demonstrate Vodafone, Telefonica and MBNL On Site Booking on Process and Shut Down Process and understanding any third-Party Processes (Arqiva WIG Etc) and the adherence to all access requirements

Experience

  • Experience of installation, commissioning, integration and maintenance activity on feeder systems across all mobile operators
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and regulations as well as fall protection practices and procedures
  • Able to read blue print and assembly/installation drawings
  • Physically able to perform all aspects of jobs, including climbing ladders and towers and working on rooftop sites/ elevated platforms
  • Installing and maintaining various associated hardware and equipment related to antennas, transmission and feeder systems and earthing;
  • Interact effectively and productively with Ericsson CAT 6 Climbers / Riggers operations/maintenance group as well as other installation engineers
  • Perform all general ground duties associated with running feeders’ systems and complete end to end testing with site master sweep test and PIM Tester;
  • Experience of working at heights and tower rescue / roof top and MEWP and current RF Awareness certificated course
